Kurseong is a place with natural beauty, located in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal state. Perched on the Siliguri-Darjeeling highway, Kurseong is a quiet hill station. Kurseong enjoys milder and pleasant weather most times of the year. During the monsoon season the rain-gods are more than generous as the town receives non-stop rains for days. The rains are in fact much needed for the flora and fauna of the area. Kurseong, the 'Land of White Orchids', gets its name from the flowers found in abundance on its hill-slopes. Rightly described as a "Botanist Paradise," Kurseong is also enriched with rich and exotic collection of flora. The region also experiences highest amount of rainfall after Cherrapunjee in Meghalaya. The town of Kurseong spreads over an area of 5 square kilometers. Peace, serenity and greenery of the region make it a tourist spot. Kurseong was ceded to the British Empire by the king of Sikkim in 1835. Later in 1880, the small hamlet became a tourist destination for the colonial authorities and was a preferred place for sanatoriums where the sick would recuperate. Thereafter, the Kurseong T.B. Sanatorium was built because the climate and environment was healthy and rejuvenating for the sick and elderly.
Kurseong has seen many special personalities in the past. Nobel Laureate and poet Rabindranath Tagore composed several of his poems in Kurseong. The great disciple of Swami Vivekananda Sister Nivedita settled down here. Mark Twain also spent some time in the place in 1885. And in 1936 Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was confined for couple of months by the British in a Bungalow at Kurseong. The buangalow is now a well-known Museum with many original furniture and other belongings of Netaji. There are quite a few places near Kurseong worth visiting and staying as this place is bit offbeat but the beauty is seen to be believed. Tea tourism in Kurseong started a decade ago and is one of the hotspot for tea tourism.
The journey to this town is beautiful through winding roads with gorgeous views of the plains it is situated halfway between Siliguri Darjeeling routes. There is a view point in Kurseong which is higher than the elevation of Darjeeling known as Buggura. This small settlement is a quiet little town on the Darjeeling Himalayan Heritage Toy Train route. The major places to visit are Eagle's Crag which has a park from where the magnificent views of Khangchendzonga on one side and the southern plains on the other can be seen and enjoyed. Dow Hill has a forest museum, Deer Park a water reservoir, all set among the forest of moss laden conifers. Places to visit in and around Kurseong are many but one of the famous sites is Makaibari Tea Estate.

Day 1 : KOLKATA - BAGDOGRA (BY AIR) - KURSEONG (40 KMS / 2 HOUR)

Morning transfer to Kolkata domestic airport to board flight for Bagdogra airport. On arrival welcome at Airport and then drive towards to Kurseong. Enroute an optional lunch stop in Siliguri hotel. Further driven to Kurseong to check-in a cozy colonial tea bungalow overlooking tea plantation
Time free for independent activites.

Day 2 : KURSEONG

After an enjoyable breakfast your guide will take you for a visit to Buddhist Gomphas in Montieviot and downhill road are the Buddhist monasteries which is most visited by the people. It also acts as a museum where you can learn more about the Buddhist culture. Then visit Eagle's Craig is a famous vantage point in Kurseong. Located about a kilometre from Kurseong railway station, Eagle's Crag is a viewpoint offering magnificent views of snow-covered peaks of Kanchenjunga, Kabru and Jannu, breathtaking views of sunset and panoramic views of the Teesta river snaking its way through the valley.
The view point and the park land is located at the end of the road which is the highest point on this mountain. A small concrete stairway leads up to the garden above. The garden is full of hedges and flowering plantations. Here, one can get to see mesmerizing views of the surrounding mountains, hills, hamlets and slopes.
Eagle's Craig also houses the water reservoir for the entire Kurseong. The area boasts of a cafeteria, a watch tower and a flower garden. Eagle's crag is also the starting point of many trekking trails. After that visit Deer Park, the Forest Museum. It is named so because of the abundance of deer found in this park. It comes under the jurisdiction of the State Forest Department. It is an attractive amusement park and the water reservoir all set amid moss-laden conifers of Dowhill is worth a visit.
After that visit Makaibari tea estate is of a different class and is one of the pioneers of the region. In Makaibari, all activities are managed by locals and they are running the show for the last 10n years with good reputation. Rivers & streams, gushing and gurgling and diversified flora and the fauna are all reasons to visit these nice destinations. The revenues from tourists go to the villagers. Options range from visiting the tea-factory, horse-riding and bird-watching. It is home to many of the Indian birds and a delight for people who like to get up in the morning to the sound of chirping birds. In addition, they can also get a feel of a restored Darjeeling Himalayan Railway engine. All these tea - estates are on motor able roads linking all the major tourist destinations of the region.

Day 3 : KURSEONG - BAGDOGRA (40 KMS / 2 HRS) - KOLKATA (BY AIR)

Early breakfast at the hotel followed by transferred to Bagdogra airport to board direct flight for Kolkata. On arrival internal transfer to onward destination.

It is one of the famous hill stations with a pleasant climate all over the year. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of the city and get rejuvenated. The Best time to visit Kurseong is all round the year due to the presence of various hills which make the atmosphere cool.
1. Summer season in Kurseong: From March till the end of May, summer season prevails in the region. Temperature ranges from 8'C to 20'C during these days. The month of May is considered as the hottest month in Kurseong.
2. Monsoon season in Kurseong: In monsoon, this city receives large amount of rainfall. During this season people can see the most exotic places around the city as it becomes greener.
3. Winter season in Kurseong : The Best Season to visit Kurseong is winters as cool breeze in this city provides pleasure to the tourists. Temperature reaches from 3'C to 10'C during winter. The winter season lasts from December to February.
